On June 20-21st, R. G. Legacy participated in Allan Houston’s Father Knows Best retreat, which is a unique combination of high-powered basketball and learning activities for fathers-sons and mentors-mentees that emphasizes leadership, communication, and the importance of spending quality time together. He had the opportunity to be a coach and example for many young men, teaching them skills on the court as well as for life. The retreat took place at City College of New York in Harlem, which is where there is a great need for youth to see positive male role models.
“Having known Allan Houston for a couple years, it has been a pleasure working with him and participating in such an impactful event that reaches out to urban youth and are deeply concerned for their futures.”

End of the event with Anthony Anderson, Richard Brown, and two youth players, TJ Hickson and Hassan Paige.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital organized a fundraising event for its Legacy donors on June 18th. During that event Richard had the opportunity to share his story and experience as a St. Jude kid being a cancer survivor. Many people were inspired and captivated by the tremendous obstacles Richard had overcome in his childhood. Through the research and treatment at St. Jude’s Hospital, his life was saved and he vowed to give back to the hospital by creating athletic charity events.
